Industry Involvement

Musgrove Family Mortuaries and Cemeteries are proud of a long heritage of commitment to our profession. In the 126 years we have served in the funeral profession in Lane County we have had nine funeral directors serve as President of the Oregon Funeral Directors Association (OFDA) and one President of the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA):

Wayne and Mark Musgrove were both appointed by the Governor of the State of Oregon to two terms on the Oregon State Mortuary and Cemetery Board.

Mark Musgrove served, as Oregon's representative to the National Funeral Directors Association's (NFDA) Policy Board, and as chairman of NFDA's Constitution and Bylaws Committee. In 1997 he was the first funeral director in Oregon to be awarded to designation of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (C.F.S.P.) by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. The Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice is funeral service’s national individual recognition. He was the 1st Oregonian to serve as President of the National funeral Directors Association. Mark is a former spokesperson for the NFDA and a former board member of the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. Mark is currently serving as Past-President of the Heritage Club. The Heritage Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to funeral service education.

Jeff Musgrove is a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP). He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Oregon Funeral Directors Association, the Funeral Service Agency which oversees the OFDA Master Trust, and as the Oregon Representative on the National Funeral Directors Association Policy Board. He is a former member of DMORT, a federal organization that assists in the event of a mass fatality. Through DMORT Jeff was deployed to New York after 9/11 and in Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina.

Joe Sharps has taught Embalming in the Funeral Service Education program at Mt. Hood Community College.

Gene Drake is currently serving as a board Member of the Oregon Funeral Directors Association.
